Coming hot off the worldwide phenomenon that was the first Avengers movie, fans were super pumped to see Tony Stark in action once more in Iron Man 3. What they got was a movie where Tony deals with panic attacks and barely suits up and an iconic comic book villain turned into a plot twist. But at least expectations were subverted, right? Step into the pitch meeting that led to the third installment in the Iron Man franchise and led Marvel to be like “yeah maybe let’s just put Tony in other people’s movies from now on.” Also, where were the Avengers during this movie?
