Gangadhar decides to accompany Laxmi Bai, who insists on going to Bithur to meet Bajirao, whose ill health is a cause of concern. Ellis overhears Nelson and Manson, his brother, hatching a plot to ambush Laxmi Bai's travel party and stop Gangadhar from travelling with her. Nelson apprises Gangadhar about the riots in Jhansi and stops him from leaving.
